The idea of the Centre of Hope hospital was born to address the void experienced at the healthcare delivery services in Afikpo and its environs. AFIKPO, a semi-urban, previously rural community, has grown in population and development but has tremendous healthcare challenges, including communicable diseases and burgeoning non-communicable diseases.The catchment area of our patient population are encumbered by inadequate medical infrastructure, a high maternal and child mortality rate, intransigent old traditional believe systems and self-medication prior to presentation at an approved health facility. These factors and others, necessitated the need to establish a major healthcare delivery hospital that can adequately cater to all the multi-disciplinary health needs of the people.
